UGHELLI/Nigeria: The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has charged Nigerian elites on peace initiatives in their communities and society at large.
The director of the group in Nigeria, Professor Chidi Irhiriodo, gave the charge in his key note address shortly before he conferred an award of “Eminent Peace Advocate” on Chief Paradise Akivie and other Nigerian elites in Ughelli recently.
Professor Irhiriodo explained that some of the objectives of IAWPA include peace, security and unity, amongst others.
He also urged Chief Paradise Akivie and other awardees to be good ambassadors to IAWPA.
He remarked that Chief Akivie truly deserved the award because of his outstanding contributions towards the promotion of peace within his (Chief Akivie) immediate community of Kokori in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Urhobo Nation and Delta State.
In a chat with newsmen shortly after the event, Chief Akivie gave gratitude to God and appreciated the group for considering him worthy for the award.
