ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has paid glowing tribute to Udu political patriarch, Chief Eddy Ono-Sorhue, on the occasion of his 82nd birthday, describing him as a defining figure in the state’s grassroots political evolution and a statesman whose enduring influence continues to resonate across generations.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor portrayed the octogenarian as a stabilising force within Udu Kingdom and Delta State, noting that his decades-long commitment to public service, political mentorship and community advancement has left a lasting imprint on the state’s leadership landscape.
Oborevwori said Chief Ono-Sorhue has remained a respected voice across political divides because of his calm disposition, deep understanding of community leadership and dedication to peace-building.
According to the governor, the elder statesman’s influence transcends partisan boundaries, with his contributions to grassroots mobilisation and political development helping to nurture generations of leaders within and beyond his political circle.
He described the celebrant as a man whose name commands honour and respect, owing to the integrity and consistency he has demonstrated throughout his years in public life.
“Chief Eddy Ono-Sorhue represents the finest ideals of leadership, humility and commitment to community development. His remarkable contributions to the political evolution of Udu and Delta State remain indelible,” the governor stated.
Oborevwori further commended the APC chieftain for upholding values of unity and inclusiveness, adding that his advisory role over the years has continued to guide emerging leaders striving to make meaningful contributions in governance and public service.
The governor also offered prayers for continued strength, good health and divine grace for the elder statesman, urging him to sustain his mentorship and fatherly role to the younger generation.
