ABUJA/Nigeria: In a scathing statement titled “Tinubu’s House of Forgeries,” Paul Ibe, the Media Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has launched a stinging critique against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging “profound forgeries” in the disposition released by the Chicago State University (CSU). Ibe’s statement, released today, challenges what he calls a “corrupted interpretation of the facts” regarding President Tinubu’s educational qualifications.
Since the deposition regarding President Tinubu’s educational qualifications emerged in the United States last week, Ibe claims that there have been efforts to distort the facts and confuse the public. He notes that some media aides to the President have attempted to “push back on the narrative,” while certain media outlets have persistently presented a slanted story to justify what he alleges is a corrupted interpretation of the CSU’s disposition.
According to Ibe’s statement, the core issue revolves around President Tinubu allegedly falsifying a document submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and swearing an affidavit under oath to support this alleged forgery.
The statement highlights specific sections of the deposition, where the CSU Registrar, Caleb Westberg, under oath, stated that CSU could not find an authentic copy of any diploma issued to Tinubu in 1979. Furthermore, Westberg confirmed that CSU was not aware of the diploma submitted to INEC.
Ibe raises questions about President Tinubu’s qualifications, suggesting that he applied to CSU with a certificate from Government College Lagos that predated the school’s establishment in 1974, creating a paradox. Additionally, President Tinubu allegedly presented a certificate from another U.S. school belonging to a female candidate and a Cambridge HSC certificate from 1970, the same year he purportedly graduated from a Nigerian secondary school.
The statement also delves into President Tinubu’s history of forgery and perjury, referring to discrepancies in his 1999 governorship election form CF001. It mentions the late lawyer and human rights icon Gani Fawehinmi’s attempts to expose these issues, which were hindered by Tinubu’s immunity as Governor of Lagos State at the time.
Ibe calls into question President Tinubu’s integrity and morality in light of these allegations and suggests that he should resign to spare the country from imminent embarrassment. He also urges the President’s supporters to refrain from spreading what he sees as falsehoods.
The statement concludes by pointing out inconsistencies in President Tinubu’s NYSC certificate, alleging that the inclusion of the middle name “Adekunle” constitutes a forgery. Ibe expresses concern over attempts to modify President Tinubu’s Wikipedia account and implies that there may be no end to the alleged forgeries surrounding the President.
