MUNICH/Germany: Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer is convinced that coach Julian Nagelsmann will put the German record champions back on track after their bad start into 2023.
Bayern is yet to win this year and so far has only managed three 1-1 draws, while their advantage at the top of the table has been cut to one point to second-placed Union Berlin.
“Bayern standards are much higher, but we will get there again. Nagelsmann also found the right solutions in autumn,” Hainer said, referring to a run of four winless games in September.
“The team was outstanding, excellent, and inspiring before the winter break. We have the same players, they can do it! I am convinced that they will get back on track,” he said on the sidelines of an event on Sunday to commemorate the victims of the Nazi era.
Bayern honorary president Uli Honeß, meanwhile, told Kicker magazine on Monday that he’s “disappointed by the team’s performance in the first three games. I expect a significant improvement with regard to the goals we want to achieve.”
