UGHELLI/Nigeria: The immediate past Commissioner for Justice, Mr Peter Mrakpor, SAN, has urged Christians in the state to be part of the electoral processes for them to be politically relevant in the next political dispensation.
Mrakpor, stated this recently, during the hosting of the Christian Political Forum (CPF), of its National President, Arch Bishop Solomon Gbakara, which took place at the Saint Lazarus Church, Ughelli.
He said that it was ironical for Christians to feel used and dumped, when in the first place they were not fully involved in the electoral processes, which he said included the political party primary election where candidates were selected for the election.
Mrakpor, who is one of the aspirants jostling for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP governor ticket in the state, said that the electoral processes began with the primary election, saying that most Christians were not involved due to the fact that they do not belong to any political party.
He likened the process to that of a man organising a thanksgiving and invited so many people, saying that at the time of the thanksgiving, those who went with him to the back of the church to begin the thanksgiving were those he would recognized first before others who joined halfway, while some may not even be recognized because at the time they came in, the crowd would have been too much.

He said if the church wanted political leaders to be held accountable, they ought to be ready to take charge of the political processes. “If you do not take charge of the process, how can I be accountable to you,” Mrakpor quarried, and urged Christians to register with any political party and get involved in the primary election.
He further urged the church to stand firm and resolute in their determination to change the political climate of the nation.
The national President of CPF, His Grace Archbishop Solomon Gbakara who acknowledged the response of Barr Mrakpor to the invitation despite his tight schedule, said his response would not be unnoticed in due course.
The President and other men of God prayed for him while guests were entertained by the Ema traditional dance.
