EKPAN/Nigeria: Ahead of the 2019 general elections, Christians under the aegis of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship Of Nigeria (PFN) and other Christian groups have been advised to avoid issues that could cause dissatisfaction amongst them.
The advice was given by the National Vice President of the Episcopal Bishops and Christians Movement For National Rebirth, Bishop Dr Duke Akpososo in an interaction with our correspondent in Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area at the weekend.
Bishop Akpososo who is also the General Overseer of The Anointed Word Bible Ministries (Kings Way) Warri, Delta State, advised that CAN, PFN and other such leaders should be weary in showing open support for any political party or aspirant.
“I fore see a situation where there is going to be a fighting within CAN and PFN when all the candidates of the political parties have emerged. This ought not to be because we all belong to the same body of Christ”
The Udu born clergy however stressed that the support for any candidate by the Christian bodies should be after party primaries and that credibility of the candidate(s) they should be taken into consideration.
He used the case of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who he said had already been endorsed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta State as the flag bearer of the party in the 2019 Delta State governorship election “based on Governor Okowa’ s laudable achievements so far of which all Deltans can attest to.”
