Bishop Nmalagu Calls for a Week of National Mourning and Cleansing

NmalaguAsaba: The National Assembly have been called to declare one week of national mourning and cleansing in the country for the blood of the innocent souls killed in Nigeria, due to the various violent activities in the country.

This call was recently made by Bishop Greatman Nmalagu, the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Religious Matters in a statement, titled “The Blood of Innocent Souls in Nigeria is crying”.

Recalling the many deaths that have happened in the country as a result of the terror of Boko Haram and other violent activities, including the continuous attacks by the Fulani herdsmen, which is attributed to leadership problem and that of the led, that the people of Nigeria need to seek the face of God to grant the country mercy, as many things had gone wrong.

“Very many things have gone wrong amongst our leaders and the led in Nigeria which gave birth to killings of innocent souls across the nation”. He said.

Bishop Nmalagu said that the activities of the Boko Haram sects and Fulani herdsmen has killed many Nigerians in the north, East, West and south of the country all leading to death of innocent souls, including many that died in the Biafra agitation.

The statement further stated that the hardship in the country had caused many young boys and girls to take to social vices like kidnapping, armed robbery and other evil means of seeking for solution to the problems they are facing sequel to lack of jobs and high cost of living.

“The suffering condition of the common man is getting out of hands. Nigeria is moving from recession to depression. Prices of commodities and cost of living are still escalating and evil activities are also on the increase”.

“The blood of the innocent souls, the displaced ones and people that are passing through such state of depression in the country are in bitter tears against the land”.

Nmalagu in the statement tasked the national Assembly as the engine room of the nation to call for a week of national prayers to seek God’s mercies and directions, as he said:

“What is impossible with human being is possible with God. With God Nigeria can overcome the present conditions. We need God, repentance and prayers to move Nigeria out of recession and avoid depression.” He concluded.
