LAGOS/Nigeria: In an official statement released today, Benjamin Mordi, the Manager Media and Public Relations for the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), Has revealed that students with visual disabilities from seven different schools are set to take part in the highly anticipated 5th edition of the annual Bible quiz competition.
Mordi, who is the spokesperson for BSN, emphasized the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment within the visually impaired community.
Giving details he stated that each of the seven participating schools would be represented by two students in this year’s Bible quiz.
The schools participating in the competition include Bethesda Home for the Blind, Mushin; Vocational School for the Blind, Oshodi; Kings College, Obalende; Lagos State Senior Model College, Agbowa-Ikosi; Lagos State Junior Model College, Agbowa-Ikosi; Federal Government College, Ijaniki, and Pacelli School for the Blind, Surulere, all located in Lagos.
The Bible quiz, which is scheduled to be chaired by Pastor Adegoke Arowosegbe of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), New Glory Area, Ogiji, Ogun State, is designed to provide a meaningful platform for individuals with visual impairments to engage with the teachings of the Bible and seek spiritual transformation.
Mordi also disclosed the prize structure for the competition, with the winner set to receive a cash prize of N100,000, the first runner-up N75,000, and the second runner-up N50,000. These rewards not only recognize the participants’ knowledge but also serve as a testament to their dedication and commitment.
Beyond the Bible quiz, BSN has continued to make a significant impact by providing Braille Bibles free of charge to visually impaired individuals who are braille literate, each costing ₦70,000. This initiative underscores the organization’s mission to ensure that the Word of God is accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical abilities.
The Bible Society of Nigeria, a not-for-profit interdenominational Christian organization, is renowned for its tireless efforts in translating the Bible into various Nigerian languages, publishing and distributing it, as well as raising funds for these essential endeavours. Furthermore, the society actively organizes programs aimed at engaging people with the Word of God, ultimately fostering positive transformation in their lives.
BSN’s remarkable achievements in this field are evident, as they have successfully translated the complete Bible into 27 Nigerian languages, with ongoing translation and revision work in 10 additional Nigerian languages.
