Buhari Gets New CSO

The Chief Security Officer to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abdurrahman Mani, has been relieved of his appointment, a month after he was appointed.
His sack may not be unconnected with the battle between the Directorate of State Security, DSS, and the Nigerian Army over which agency should provide close body protection for the president, a role that has traditionally been carried out by the DSS.
He has been replaced by an officer of the DSS.
Since Buhari moved into the Presidential Villa, there has been a battle between the DSS and the Army over who should provide close body protection for the president.
The crisis came to a head when the ADC, an army lieutenant, ordered DSS operatives out of the Villa and replaced them with soldiers.
Our source said that the new CSO is a more senior officer than the officer who was removed, it could also be remembered, that at the period of transition there was an issue to replace the CSO, because of the new position of the then President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, but he refused to accept the new change from the Department of State Security, DSS.
