Catholic Bishop Admonishes Priests to Preach God’s Words Courageously

ASABA/Nigeria: Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku, Most Revd. Michael Elue has admonished priests to preach the word of God courageously without sentiment.

The Bishop gave the charge recently at the 2018 edition of annual patron feast day of St. Felix Seminary, Ejeme-Aniogor, Aniocha South local government area of Delta State.

According to the Bishop, “it is important that we should only preach the word of God because that is what He gave us power for, not because of the group, political leaning or social group we are sympathetic to.”

“We should only preach the words we are sent to deliver when we are at the pulpit,” the Bishop said, adding, “it is with God’s power that we are who we are and we should do what He asks us to do and say what He ask us to say.”

He emphasised, “only the word of God should be proclaimed and we should do it with power and when God starts to manifest His powers, don’t take the glory, the glory belongs to God.”

“Only God strengthens us to do what we are doing, we should be humble and give Him the glory; before God, nobody is required to take any form of superiority in what he is doing because, none of us is actually doing anything wonderful without the grace of God, so, with humility, we should be able to say, God, it is by your power that I am able to do what I am doing,” the Bishop stated.
