By the tradition of the Catholic Church, the Sunday after Easter Sunday is the “DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY”. It is a day set aside by the Catholic Church worldwide to celebrate and reflect on the Mercy of God the Father through the sacrificial death of God the Son. Today’s Mass started with the recitation of the CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY. The chaplet of divine mercy is usually said on an ordinary Rosary.
Here is the procedure for saying the chaplet of divine mercy. Begin with: Our Father……, Hail Mary……., Apostles Creed. Then, on the Our Father beads you will say the following words: “Eternal Father, I offer you the body and blood, soul and divinity of your dearly beloved son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.”
On the Hail Mary beads you will say the following words: “For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”. In conclusion, you will recite these words three times: “Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
I have always been a strong devotee of Divine mercy devotion. The Mercy of God is called “Unfathomable Divine Mercy” in one of the Divine Mercy prayers, while the book of Psalm describes the Mercy of God when it said “God is slow to Anger, but rich in Mercy. On the prayer for the year of mercy it is clearly stated that, “You (Jesus) are the Visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy.”
The hour of mercy is the hour Jesus Christ died on the cross 3.pm. The 3’O clock prayer of divine mercy is “You expired Jesus but the Ocean of Mercy opened up for the whole world. Oh Fount of Mercy, envelope the whole world and empty yourself out upon us”. Jesus I trust in you. Merciful Jesus I trust in you. The Catholic Church teaches that the whole essence of the Christian life is love and forgiveness.
I want to end this my write up by quoting 1Corinthians 13:13 which says ” there are three things that last: Faith, Hope and Love but the greatest of these is Love. Love is the greatest and love goes with forgiveness and mercy.
JESUS I TRUST IN YOU.
MERCIFUL JESUS I TRUST IN YOU.
Happy divine mercy Sunday to you all.
