EFFURUN/Nigeria: As Nigerian children celebrate the 2025 Children’s Day, Dr. Patrick Ighomrore, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Community Development, has described the nation’s children as an untapped natural treasure that must be harnessed for future growth and sustainable development.

In a message on Tuesday, Dr. Ighomrore said the theme for this year’s celebration, “Tapping the Untapped Natural Treasure,” is a timely reminder that the greatest resource Nigeria possesses is not oil or minerals, but the creativity, dreams, and resilience of its children. He emphasized that investing in children today is investing in a secure and prosperous tomorrow.

“We must recognize that every Nigerian child holds a spark of genius, and it is our collective responsibility to nurture that potential. The true wealth of our nation lies in the hearts and minds of our children,” Dr. Ighomrore said. He called on government institutions, schools, and parents to double their efforts in creating enabling environments where every child can thrive.

Dr. Ighomrore stressed the importance of community involvement in shaping the lives of children, especially in rural and underserved areas. According to him, community development must include safe spaces for children, quality education, and mentorship programs that help mold responsible future leaders.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Oborevwori administration to policies that uplift children and empower families. “As we celebrate our children today, let us resolve to tap into this natural treasure by nurturing their talents, protecting their rights, and guiding them toward greatness,” he added.
