ASABA/Nigeria: As Nigeria celebrates Children’s Day 2025 under the theme “Tapping the Untapped Natural Treasure,” The Healthy Real Initiative For Entrepreneurship (THRive) has called on the government and society to prioritize the development, protection, and empowerment of children, described as the country’s most valuable yet underutilized resource.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Emmanuel Enebeli, MNIPR, THRive emphasized that Nigerian children represent an immense reservoir of potential waiting to be harnessed through proper investment in education, safety, and inclusive policies. “Our children are our natural treasure, brimming with ideas, energy, and possibilities. It is time we truly invest in unlocking their brilliance,” Enebeli said.
THRive highlighted the persistent challenges facing children in Nigeria, including bullying, inadequate access to quality education, and weak child protection structures. These issues, the organization warned, not only suppress children’s potential but also deprive the nation of the full dividends of its youthful population. The group called for renewed national commitment to safe learning environments, especially in rural and underserved communities.
Children, THRive noted, are not just beneficiaries of policy but key contributors to national discourse. The group advocated for active involvement of children in shaping the policies that affect them. “To tap into this natural treasure, we must listen to children, engage them meaningfully, and support their dreams,” Enebeli added.
As the nation marks this special day, THRive joined Nigerian children in calling for a collective shift in mindset — one that sees every child not as a burden, but as a vital asset to Nigeria’s growth. “When we nurture, protect, and empower our children,” the group stated, “we are tapping into the richest resource this country has — the promise of a better future.”
