ASABA/Nigeria: The Councillor representing Ward 9, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Chibuzor Okocha has said that annually, he plays host to children to provide venue for children who had no place to spend the holiday.
Hon. Okocha made the disclosure yesterday during the annual children’s day party he organised for children in Okpanam Community.
According to him, “For three years now, we I have being sponsoring this event; it started when I discovered that some people whose parents could afford it go to severally places of interests whereas, a lot of children had no place to spend the holiday.”
“We are celebrating our children, it is party for children that open, there is no gate fee and no restriction of any kind; from morning of every May 27th till evening, we stay together with the children and party,” the Councillor said.
He continued, ”whoever initiated Children’s Day celebration did a good thing as it provided a forum for us to celebrate our children, the leaders of tomorrow and this year’s celebration was wonderful, some of the children came with their parents and I believe next year’s edition will be better because, it has become an event children look forward to annually.
Asked about how he raises money for the sponsorship of the programme, he said, “the day is already fixed, as an individual, a family man, I love children and I can comfortably work towards organising the party as you have seen.”
