ASABA/Nigeria: The Chartered Institute of Information Management Strategy (CIISM) has endorsed the 6th edition of the Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop, DELCOM 2025, describing it as a milestone in professional capacity building for media and communication experts.
In a statement on Tuesday, the CIISM Registrar and Governing Council Secretary, Dr. Adelanke Oyintoke, announced that participants of DELCOM 2025, alongside alumni of the previous five editions, will be inducted into the Institute’s Professional Hall of Fame as members of CIISM.
Dr. Oyintoke explained that the Governing Council reached the decision after reviewing DELCOM’s workshop modules and the professional backgrounds of its past and present trainers, which include respected professors of Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, and Advertising such as Prof. Raph Akinfeleye, Prof. Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, Prof. Godwin Oboh, Prof. Joyce Ogwezi, and Prof. Presley Obukoadata, among others.
According to the Institute, DELCOM has evolved into a flagship annual event where professionals and academics engage participants in knowledge sharing and skill development in journalism, advertising, public relations, and mass communication.
The Institute commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his human capital development policy and praised DELCOM Convener and State Coordinator, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, for sustaining the workshop’s successes over the past six years.
“CIISM is pleased to announce its partnership with DELCOM 2025, scheduled for October 6–8, 2025, at Hotel Benizia, Asaba. Past and present participants will be inducted on Day 3 of the workshop as members of CIISM. This will be a special event,” the statement read.
The Institute added that Delta State remains the only state in Nigeria demonstrating consistent commitment to professional training for media appointees, government spokespersons, and communication partners, stressing that CIISM is proud to align with DELCOM’s objectives.
Reacting to the development, the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, described CIISM as an international professional body with a reputation for high ethical standards and global presence in Canada, the United States, Togo, and Nigeria.
He assured that participants of DELCOM 2025 and previous editions will be certified by CIISM, while Governor Oborevwori, distinguished professionals, and senior government officials will be honoured with awards on the final day of the workshop.
“CIISM is a globally recognized brand in Information Strategy Management. Its decision to partner with DELCOM is a welcome development and a milestone for all participants,” Oghenesivbe said.
