Clark Family Disowns Unauthorized Solicitation for Late Pa E.K. Clark’s Burial

ABUJA/Nigeria: The family of the late elder statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has disassociated itself from any individual or group soliciting support or making burial arrangements on its behalf, stating that no such mandate has been given.

In a statement jointly signed by Mr. Panaowei Clark, Chief Ebikeme Clark, and Miss Emomotimi Clark, the family emphasized that all plans regarding the burial of the late Ijaw leader must involve them directly.

“Since the passing of our beloved father, Pa E.K. Clark, on February 17, 2025, our family has received an overwhelming outpouring of love and condolences from sympathizers and well-wishers at his country home in Kiagbodo, Delta State, as well as his residences in Lagos and Abuja,” the statement read.

The family expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, state governors, and socio-cultural groups, including the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Pan Niger-Delta Forum (PANDEF), Afenifere, Arewa, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and the Middle Belt Forum, for their support during this period of mourning.

Acknowledging Pa Clark’s national stature, the family recognized the need for broad consultations in planning his burial. However, it warned against unauthorized individuals or groups seeking financial or logistical support in his name.

“To this effect, it has become necessary to inform the general public that no individual or group has been mandated or nominated by the family of late Pa E.K. Clark to approach governments at the Federal and State levels or other entities to solicit support in any form, discuss, or arrange for his burial without our direct involvement,” the statement added.

While assuring that details of the burial will be communicated in due course, the family appealed for understanding and cooperation from all concerned.

“We thank our numerous well-wishers for standing with us during this time and solicit their continued support,” the family said.
