WARRI/Nigeria: Traders of Igbudu Market, Warri and residents in the area now live in fear due to the ongoing clashes between two rival street cults’ members in the area.
The feud which has claimed no fewer than five lives of members of the street cult groups this year has often caused panic amongst traders of Igbudu Market during closing hours and fear amongst residents at nights.
Consequently, concerned traders of the market and residents of the area who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity made an appealed to government security agents, particularly the police to live up to their responsibilities of putting an end to the ugly situation as some of the traders and residents expressed fears that if the hostility is left unchecked, it could escalate to a worse situation as they said that during the clashes innocent and law abiding citizens were maimed and robed of their monies and valuable properties.
A police source who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that they were aware of the situation.
