Cleric Advocates Support For Orphans

ILLORIN/Nigeria: Mr Mathew Alabi of Christ Kingdom Church, Ilorin, has urged the public to support orphans in the country and not leave their care to government alone.

Alabi, who made the call in Ilorin on Thursday in an interview, said orphanages in the country deserved special care from every family.

According to him, most people do not care to give and support the orphans at the orphanage centres.

“We need to support them with gift items such as food, clothes, cash and other necessary materials for their upbringing.

“It is every family’s responsibility to support orphans. The Non-Governmental Organisations and government cannot do it alone. Individual support will help to take care of them.

“We can empower them with skills acquisition programmes, enroll them for academic programmes and help sponsor their education as well,” he said.

The pastor also called on religious leaders to always extend their support to orphanages and stop focusing on unnecessary projects.

He, therefore, called on the public to show love to the orphans and stop discriminating against them.
