OREROKPE/Nigeria: Commendations have continued to trail Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, over what has been described as a deliberate and people-focused approach to governance that is strengthening institutions and driving long-term transformation across the state.
The commendation came from the Parish Priest of St. Williams Catholic Church, Orerokpe, Rev. Fr. Peter Awharemuire, during the 70th Thanksgiving Mass of Lady Doris Onoriode Ejinyere, which the governor attended as a special guest.
Delivering a homily drawn from Jeremiah 29:10–14, the cleric said Governor Oborevwori’s emergence as the state’s chief executive was part of a divine plan, stressing that leadership is determined not by human power but by God’s purpose. He noted that the visible progress recorded in the state reflected purposeful and guided leadership.
Rev. Fr. Awharemuire pointed to achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and community development as evidence that public confidence had been restored, adding that communities were safer and lives better protected. According to him, these gains were not accidental but the outcome of focused and intentional governance.
He said the Oborevwori administration stood out for its emphasis on sustainability, noting that beyond physical projects, the governor was deliberately building enduring systems in governance, security and public service designed to serve both present and future generations of Deltans.
Describing the governor as a man of uncommon courage, the cleric said the administration had already secured a permanent place in the political history of the state, adding that both the Church and the people of Delta State were proud of a leadership defined by humility, justice, inclusiveness and service. He assured the governor of the Church’s continued prayers and advised him to sustain his leadership with wisdom and caution.
In his remarks, Governor Oborevwori congratulated Lady Ejinyere on her 70th birthday, describing her as a woman of integrity, strength and steadfast commitment to family and service. He prayed for her continued good health and peace, while the celebrant expressed gratitude to God, her family and well-wishers, praising the governor’s achievements as so evident that “even the blind can see them and the deaf can hear them.”
