EMEVOR/Nigeria: The thrilling conclusion of the Isoko North Table Tennis Tournament is set for Friday, July 12, 2024.
This pioneering tournament, a first in Delta State and the nation, began on June 28 in Emevor, Isoko North. Various clans within Isoko North have since held their own qualifiers to select the top four players to represent them in the grand finale.
According to Dr. Palmer Ogheneyole Nathaniel, also known as The Black Prince of Isoko Nation and the facilitator of the contest, the final match will take place at the prestigious Peccan Hotel on Dr. Jonathan Ososuakpor Street in Emevor. The event will start promptly at 9 am.
The tournament’s closing event will be chaired by Hon. Pastor Jonathan Ukodhiko, the Member representing Isoko Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.
Dr. Palmer emphasized that the finals are expected to be a spectacular showcase of the best table tennis talent in Isoko North. Prizes include N300,000 for the 1st place winner, N250,000 for the 2nd place, N200,000 for the 3rd place, and additional consolation prizes for all participants.
Palmer, who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori on New Media, announced that Deacon Godwin Ogorugba, the Chairmanship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming Local Government election, will present the first prize. Other dignitaries include Hon. Barr. Bernard Odior, representing Isoko North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly; Hon. Bino Owode and Hon. Chief Ferguson Onwo, representing Isoko South Constituencies 1 and 2 respectively; Hon. Friday Ovoke Warri, the Chairmanship Candidate of Isoko South Local Government; Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, the Honourable Commissioner for Health; and Chief Kome Okpobor, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Delta State Oil and Gas Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC).
Additional special guests include Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori Junior, the Governor’s first son; Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, former chairman of Isoko North and Director-General of the Isoko North PDP campaign council; Dr. Barr. Chief Paul Owhe, Chairman of the campaign council; Chief Emmanuel Okpomo Erezih; Dr. Pharm Nelson Ejakpovi; Comr. Nelson Egware; Hon. Joseph Ekowhiro; and many others.
