Coalition Raises Alarm Over Alleged Kwankwasiya Plot to Influence Supreme Court Verdict

ABUJA/Nigeria: The Coalition of Civil Society Organisation for Democracy has sounded a clarion call, alleging a clandestine agenda by members of the Kwankwasiya political movement to sway the Supreme Court’s forthcoming ruling on the Kano governorship dispute.

In a press conference held in Abuja, the National Secretary of the Coalition, Otunba Eniola Enaife, flagged these actions as an emerging insurrection demanding immediate attention from the nation’s security apparatus.

Expressing concerns over what they termed a subterranean plot, the Coalition urged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene swiftly.

Enaife urged for the apprehension of former Kano state governor and other NNPP leaders suspected of involvement in the alleged scheme, stressing the need for the Supreme Court justices to stand firm and not be cowed by the purported threats posed by disgruntled members of the Kwankwasiya movement.

The group further implicated the Kwankwasiya movement in purported plans to occupy foreign missions within the country and suggested an imminent attack on prominent APC members, both in and out of Kano State. Labeling these intentions as perilous, the Coalition emphasized the urgency for security agencies to curb these malevolent actions before they escalate.

Central to their demands was the arrest of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the NNPP in the 2023 poll and the figurehead of the Kwankwassiya movement. Enaife condemned these alleged maneuvers as antithetical to democratic principles, emphasizing the need for adherence to the rule of law.

The Coalition underscored the criticality of resisting intimidation and safeguarding the integrity of both the President and the judiciary. They warned against allowing Kwankwaso’s actions to set a dangerous precedent for the nation’s stability.
