WARRI/Nigeria: The Amalgamated field Workers of Global manpower and Godvics Nigeria Limited working on the ConOil Oil field platform have called on the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Minister of Labour, Nigeria Labour Congress as well as the National Union of Petroleum & Natural Gas Workers NUPENG and other relevant agencies to come to their aid.
The appeal was made by the workers group under the amalgamates field workers of Godvics and Global Manpower, the group work for ConOil Producing fields/ flow stations owned by Nigeria’s business guru( name withheld).
The workers, through the Secretary Mr. Oiku Eromosele, and the Public Relation Officer, PRO, Mr. Erastus Romela, noted that they are being paid less than what they are putting after so many years in the job without increment or benefit, adding that the Newly employed according to them receive almost 1.2 million monthly and the least paid worker among new take minimum of about 500 thousand Naira monthly respectively.
The amalgamated field workers are calling on the management of Godvics Nigeria Limited allegedly owned by Mr. Godfrey Orugboh to as a matter of urgency review the employment letter given to its workers paragraph ‘eight’ which stipulate workers ‘go leave with adequate compensation which according to the group has never been implemented since inception of the job’.
Staffers of Godvics and Global Manpower are threatening management of the company to attend to the issues raised or as well get ready to battle Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC , adding that if not attended to they will explore every available rules to claim their demands.
However the group is also accusing a prominent Warri Chief for allowing workers to stay onboard longer than 28 days, alleging that some due to failure to crew change are staying onboard more than 60 days on the platform offshore.
They also alleged that due to failure of management of the services company and Conoil so many workers are leaving the company to other oil producing and services companies.
They are also appealing to the owner of Conoil to look into the affairs of the company in order not to lose his investment through bad management
