ILORIN/Nigeria: The University of Ilorin in Kwara State has declared a terrorist organization by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The declaration came after the University ASUU Chairman, Dr. Kayode Afolayan was reportedly sacked for allegedly exposing the corrupt practices of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali.
In a letter signed on behalf of ASUU by Dr. Ayodeji Omole, Chairman of the ASUU University of Ibadan and Dr. Ade Adejumo, Zonal Co-Ordinato,ASUU Ibadan Zone, the union said that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ambali devised all means to suppress legitimate industrial activities in order to avoid exposure of his misdeeds. The union also accused the Vice-Chancellor of smuggling his wife into the university and promoted her without following due process.
It should be noted that before its declaration as terrorist organization, UNILORIN has been on Tuesday, September 19 reported as the most subscribed University in Nigeria for four consecutive years.
