ABRAKA/Nigeria: The people of Ovu Community have commended the OVU Foundation for providing books to the pupils in different primary and secondary school within the Local Government Area in Ethiope East. The people gave the commendation at the Monthly meeting of the Ovu Foundation where the elders of the community sent representatives.
The elders said that the OVU Community is first of its kind adding that the Foundation provision of different categories of notebooks has helped to alleviate school expenses on the parents. The Community representative said that as a result of what the Foundation is doing, many pupils who formerly dropped out of school have returned back to school.
The Community representatives further pleaded to the Foundation members to continue with their good work. They call on other meaningful OVU sons and daughter to emulate the Ovu Foundation to put smiles on the faces of people of the community.
Responding, the President of the Foundation, Prof. Rim-Ruky Akpofure thanked the community representatives for thanking them. Prof. Akpofure, who is the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, FUPRE said that the Ovu Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization without Political affiliation adding that the main objective of the Foundation is to assist the indigent children in the community and promote the educational development among the Ovu pupils in both Primary and Secondary School.
The President also told them that one of the essences of life is to put smiles on the faces of people adding that the Foundation is set to do more as time goes on. He further said that the Foundation will soon organize Skill Acquisition Programme for the people of the community and its environs where they will be trained on various skills. He told them that membership of the Foundation is opened to all Ovu indigenes in the country and Diaspora.
Present during the meeting were Dr. Isreal Imide, Dr. Oniyama, Mr. Omodafe, Mr. Ate Oghenero, Engr. Ohre among others.
