TARIBOR/Nigeria:  Chief Joseph Uduboh, the Tonwei of Tubutoru Kingdom, has raised his voice against the deplorable state of St Timothy A/C Primary School, a vital educational institution in the riverine Ijaw community of Taribor, located within Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. In a recent press tour of the dilapidated school, Chief Uduboh vehemently criticized the appalling conditions and called upon Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and the Local Government Chairman to prioritize its restoration.

Established in 1954 by missionaries, St Timothy A/C Primary School once stood as a beacon of hope and enlightenment for the community. However, it now stands as a symbol of decay, with crumbling infrastructure and an overall state of disrepair. He decried the woeful neglect this educational institution has endured under the leadership of the Governor Akeredolu-led government.

Conducting the media through the school’s premises, the traditional ruler pointed to dilapidated classrooms, windows, doors, and ceilings in a state of disarray. The once-promising institution has now become perilous and unsuitable for both students and teachers. The deteriorating roof and shattered windows pose significant safety risks to everyone within the school.

Furthermore, Chief Uduboh emphasized that the neglect of this school was unacceptable, considering the past contributions of the community, which had produced Councilors and delivered a high number of votes in every election. He insisted that this deplorable state serves as an urgent call to action for both the state and local governments.

In Chief Uduboh’s words, “Education is the cornerstone of progress and development, and the state of this school is a glaring contradiction to the commitment to providing quality education for the citizens of Ondo State.” He stressed the need for swift intervention to rectify the dire situation and demanded that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu prioritize the school’s restoration and transformation to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for the students.

The dismal condition of St Timothy A/C Primary School, as highlighted by High Chief Joseph Uduboh, underscores the urgent need for immediate attention from both the state and local governments. It is through such actions that the promise of quality education can be fulfilled for all, allowing the students of St Timothy A/C Primary School to access the education they deserve.
