WARRI/Nigeria: Only a fortnight following the devastating fire that consumed Ogbe-Ijaw Market in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area, another distressing incident unfolded as the chains of stalls at Mciver Market, situated in close proximity to Ogbe-Ijaw Market, succumbed to flames earlier this morning.
The inferno resulted in the destruction of goods and property valued at millions of naira, inflicting substantial losses on the affected traders.
Reports indicated that the fire ignited during the early hours of Monday, although specific details regarding its exact onset remained unconfirmed by eyewitnesses.
While the root cause of the blaze remained unidentified, witnesses speculated that it originated from a neglected burning fire.
Expressing profound dismay, impacted traders lamented the irreplaceable loss of their life savings, particularly poignant given the prevailing economic challenges. They urgently appealed to the state government for assistance in revitalizing and reconstructing the market.
