KWALE/Nigeria: The Contractor, DNL Construction Company, handling the Kwale-Beneku Bridge has promised early completion of work, as the Delta State Government had met up with its financial obligations towards the project.
An investigation by Ndokwa Reporters on the ongoing project, which started in April, 2019, showed that much work had been done, especially on the Afia-Eze road that connects the town of Kwale (Utagba-Ogbe) to the Ase River, as the tarring of that end of the road had been completed.
Speaking to Ndokwa Reporters, the Chief Intelligence Officer of the company, Mr. Festus Okene, said that most of the water welding work will be carried out before the familiar flood which the area normally experience yearly.

It could be recalled that issue of the bridge, until April 2019 when the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and the State Executive Council approved the commencement of the work, in keeping to his promise to the Traditional Ruler of Okpai, when the later visited him in Government House, prior to the 2019 election, had been at the front burner of agitators from that area.

The issue of the bridge had been a regular subject of discussion, as the area is known for its economic contribution to the state. It was always a nightmare to users of the road, especially the river, as they often have to ferry across with the Pontoon, or speed boats, even when the area is flooded.
