Ogwashi-uku/Nigeria: In line with the administration of Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to ensure clean, safe environment for investment to thrive, Chief Isaac Anwuzia has rolled out equipment to clear refuse dumps at Ogwashi-Uku.
Chief Anwuzia who is the Chairman of Aniocha South local government area of Delta State was seen today, March 5, 2018 inspecting refuse dump which has taken over part of the expressway at the popular Kwale junction, Ogwashi-Uku.
According to the Chairman, “the people dumping the refuse are not patriotic, you can see a sign warning that anyone who dumps refuse here will pay a fine of N50, 000.”
“We are sure that they dump the refuse around midnight, but we have a task force that will now engage in round the clock monitoring, anyone who is caught dumping refuse indiscriminately will be taken to the revenue court, we are taking the issue of clean environment serious to compliment the efforts of our Governor, Senator Okowa in developing our state,” Chief Anazia said, adding, “we are clearing the refuse at Afor market, our people are known for keeping their surrounding clean and enlightenment campaign for our people to revive the culture of proper disposal of refuse will be embarked on.”
Chief Anwuzia disclosed that those who resides by the refuse dumps would be among those monitoring illegal disposal of refuse because, they are at greater risk of outbreak of diseases.
The Council Chairman who observed that financial constraint was a great hindrance to the execution of projects, thanked Governor Okowa’s administration for its commitment to the development of the state
