KWALE/Nigeria: A High Court of Justice in Kwale, Delta State, presided over by Honourable Justice O.F. Enenmo, has convicted and sentenced two men to ten years in prison for illegally possessing a cut-to-size single-barrel gun.
The defendants, Mr. Joshua Anamali, 25, and Mr. Nelson Adoh, 30, were apprehended on January 27, 2021, during a routine police stop-and-search operation in Ndemili, Ndokwa West Local Government Area. The police recovered the illegal firearm from the defendants, leading to their arrest and subsequent trial.
In delivering the judgment, Justice Enenmo meticulously reviewed the evidence presented against Anamali and Adoh. Finding them guilty as charged, the judge sentenced them to a decade behind bars for illegal firearm possession.
Prosecuting Counsel Mrs. Catherine O. Oboreruomo, who led the case against the defendants, called two witnesses to testify, strengthening the prosecution’s argument. After the verdict, Mrs. Oboreruomo spoke with journalists, emphasizing the importance of lawful conduct among youth.
“Crime only leads to condemnation and total destruction,” she said, urging young people to avoid criminal activities and choose a lawful path. The defendants are currently held at the custodial centre in Kwale, where they will serve their sentences.
