ABOH/Nigeria: The Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government, Delta State, Mr. Amechee Juan Governor, had appealed to the indigenes of the area to remain calm, in the face of the pandemic disease, Coronavirus, and pointed that there is no amount of suffering that can be compared to the spread of the virus amongst the people, in a press release by the chairman today, April 10, 2020, made available to Ndokwa Reporters,
While admonishing them to continue to appreciate God, despite the Covid-19 crises, and the Governor of the State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and adhere to the various measures of staying safe, he pointed out that the disease is real, as the state had already witnessed some serious cases, and the state is not leaving no stone untoned in fighting the pandemic.
“Covid-19 is real and the state having recorded some serious cases is significantly positioned to sustain our efforts in preventing the spread of the Covid19 virus in the state.”
“The recorded Covid-19 cases has triggered intensified contact tracing and the state is not leaving any stone unturned in the efforts to curb the virus spreading that may result from the said recorded cases.”
He called on the people to shun any form of distraction, differences and sentiments, despite the hard the assumed hardship the policies in place maybe causing in order to achieve the set goals in curtailing the virus.
“As citizens of Delta state, we must at this point shun all distractions, all differences and sentiments so that we can effectively partner with the State Government to achieve the set goals and objectives of managing the fight against Covid-19 in the state.”
“No doubt, some of the policies may appear harsh to our people with the potential to increase the suffering of the masses but as we are aware, no amount of suffering can be compared to the spread of the virus amongst us.”
He pointed that the pains and sufferings of the people due to the lockdown is been felt by the authority, and action is been taken to alleviate the pains and sufferings, especially on actions of the security agencies.
“We have taken significant notes of the reported cases of security agencies actions on our people, the hunger effects, the several stay at home burdens and all other complaints. We assure you that we are working relentlessly on the complaints and we are doing everything within our powers to address them to an acceptable standard without compromising the set directives and without encouraging violations.”
