COVID-19: Ndokwa East Charge Citizens to Continue to Observe Preventive Measures Despite Partial Lifting of Lockdown …Markets to Open Wednesday and Saturdays

ABOH/Nigeria: The people of Ndokwa East, Delta State had been charged to continue to adhere to all necessary measures that had been given to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus disease in the area.

This advice was given by the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Hon. Juan Governor on Wednesday April 29, 2020 in Press Release to further explained the state had partially relaxed the lockdown.

The chairman while thanking the people for their patience throughout the four weeks of the lockdown, reminded them that despite the council had not witnessed any case of the Coronavirus, they had have to continue to maintain social distancing and all other preventive measures that will help the council check the occurrence and spread of the disease in the area.

“While it is true that our LGA has not recorded any case of Covid19 within this period, we are praying and hoping that we all continue to put all hands on deck in this fight against the deadly Covid19 virus to ensure that we stay safe and free from the risk of recording any case or getting involved in the community spread/transmission of this virus as the case may be.”

The Chairman pointed out that the objective had not changed, as they must aggressively carryout all the right procedures to prevent it from spread.

“Our objective has not changed, we must aggressively guide against the contacting of Covid19 in NELGA, reduce the spread of this infectious disease and make sure our Covid19 RRT, which includes our frontline nurses, doctors and social care workers, are not overwhelmed.”

He stated that in alignment with the state government announcement to partially lift the lockdown to allow social economic activities to resume, the council have to further stress on the need to maintain healthy observance of the rules, and as a result gave some directives to follow, which includes,

 

“While we maintain the option for Foodstuff sellers to continue to sell within the precinct of their homes to allow for a little more normality to continue without a significant increase in the risk of contracting or spreading the virus, there is no general relaxation of the rules on prohibition of the local markets on the normal market days. Instead all Markets in NELGA will now be opened under strict compliance with the following conditions –

“Markets shall be opened only on Wednesdays and Saturdays between the hours of 8am in the morning till 4pm in the evening.”

“All Sellers and buyers must put on appropriate and recommended face masks

“Markets must have a handwashing points in each row and all entrance and exits

“All Sellers and buyers must adhere strictly to the social distancing rule and must not attend to more than one person at a time

“All recommended precautionary measures (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) must be adhered to under all circumstances.

“All security operatives and task force will ensure that these directives are not compromised by any mean.

“Violations will be dealt with without any fear or favour and mobile courts will be available to handle all violation issues accordingly

“Loitering in groups without observing the directives of social distancing to go and buy foodstuff is prohibited
