ABUJA/Nigeria: As an effort to mitigate the pains of the lockdown of most part of the country, especially as directed by President Mohammadu Buhari, the Ndokwa youths in Abuja had sent a Save Our Soul, SOS, appeal to the Federal Government for emergency financial support.
In a letter, signed by the president, Engr. Godfrey Esumobi, the Vice President, Chukwuemeke Victor, and the Secretary, Olisa Joseph Onyeka, on behalf of the members of Ndokwa Youth Forum, Abuja addressed to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, the forum while giving supports to the decision to lockdown places like Abuja, and Lagos, in order to curtail the spread of the coronavirus virus, it pointed out that the sit at home is going to be tough, as they will require foods and money to survive the period.
They stated that they had advised their members to stay at home, to help conquer the rampaging virus, as they had also engaged some of their members who falls in the exempted categories of person to help deliver food and other essentials to other members.
“We have advised our members across the FCT to kindly maintain the Federal Government’s Stay At Home Order, knowing fully well that the decisions of the Federal Government is aimed at preventing the spread of the virus. We are also aware, that the decision will affect the economic and social welfare of our members.”
“Therefore, as part of efforts by the leadership of our Forum, to ameliorate and cushion the effects of hardship of our members in this trying time of Stay At Home Order of the Federal Government, caused by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, we hereby passionately appeal for an emergency assistance where necessary because our members are yet to benefit from the ongoing Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer and other intervention programmes of the President Muhammadu Buhari on COVID-19.”
“The leadership of Ndokwa Youth Forum Abuja have engaged the services of its members who are on the exempted list of people to Stay At Home (Media and Health Sectors) to help deliver relief materials to our members who have been affected by the scourge across the FCT.”
