ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment to the fight against COVID-19 and any other contagious diseases in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Mordi Ononye, disclosed this Thursday, January 27, 2022 during an interactive session with journalists in Asaba, the state capital.
He urged all Deltans and residents alike to key into the on-going vaccination exercise in the state and get vaccinated.
“The vaccines are safe and they are free. Its good you go for testing which is equally free in all the state-owned health facilities,” he said.
The commissioner lamented the bizarre way and manner the prescribed, precautionary non pharmaceutical preventive measures were arbitrarily flaunted during the festive period.
He listed the measures to include hand washing with soap and running water, the use of hand sanitizer, the use of facemasks, social distancing and others.
In his own words, “The use of facemask, avoidance of crowded places we have not been very good at that.”
He expressed gratitude to God that in spite of all the shortcomings and lapses, the state had successfully gone through four waves of this dreaded virus.
In the treatment of COVID-19, Dr Ononye revealed that as caregivers, every medical doctor or nurse knew what to do, hence, it had become part of treatment architecture in medical science.
