ASABA/Nigeria: Following growing concerns over rising cases of kidnapping and armed robbery in Ogwashi-Uku, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and directed the deployment of tactical teams to various strategic points in the town. The move comes in response to complaints circulating on social media about the worsening security situation in the area.
To tackle the menace head-on, CP Abaniwonda has mandated the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Aina Adesola, to oversee the security operation. Consequently, combat operatives from Dragon Patrol, Eagle-Net, and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have been deployed, while the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad (SAKCCS) has been assigned to conduct intelligence-driven policing to track down criminal elements. Additionally, operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) have been tasked with undercover duties and intelligence gathering to dismantle criminal networks.
Reaffirming the Command’s dedication to ensuring safety, CP Abaniwonda assured residents that the police remain resolute in addressing security threats in Ogwashi-Uku and across Delta State. He urged members of the public to continue their lawful activities without fear, while remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious movements to the police.
The Commissioner emphasized that law enforcement would not relent until all perpetrators of crime in Ogwashi-Uku are brought to justice. He encouraged the public to utilize dedicated emergency contact lines to report security breaches promptly.
With these reinforcements and intelligence-driven operations, the Delta State Police Command has demonstrated its commitment to restoring peace and stability in Ogwashi-Uku, sending a strong message to criminal elements that their activities will no longer be tolerated.
