EKRERHAVWEN-AGBARHO/Nigeria: In a commendable display of commitment to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, Sir Festus Ahon, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, personally covered the West African Examination Council (WAEC) enrolment fees for underprivileged students at Erhavwen Secondary School in Ekrerhavwen-Agbarho.
The generous initiative unfolded during Sir Ahon’s visit to the school on Tuesday, as he emphasized the importance of education as a catalyst for community development. Speaking on behalf of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, he stated, “We are here to assist indigent students of this school to pay for their WAEC enrolment fees in line with the MORE Agenda of Governor Oborevwori for all Deltans. We are here to support them to make sure that none of them is left behind in their educational pursuit.”
Highlighting the pivotal role education plays in community advancement, Sir Ahon urged the school’s Principal and staff to provide dedicated guidance to students, fostering good conduct and steering them away from social vices that could impede their educational journey.
Expressing gratitude for the thoughtful gesture, Mrs. Patience Ekakitie, the School Principal, lauded Sir Ahon’s commitment to the cause and expressed confidence that the students would reciprocate by excelling in their exams and staying focused on their goals.
Further, Mr. Sunday Damatie, a teacher in the school and trustee of the Ekrerhavwen-Agbarho community, praised Sir Ahon for his humanitarian efforts and appealed for the state government’s support in fencing the school premises to prevent encroachment.
“As an illustrious son of Ekrerhavwen community, we appreciate your kind gesture of humanitarian service in this community and beyond, and it is our prayer that God will continue to elevate you to render more services to mankind,” Damatie remarked. Sir Ahon’s philanthropic endeavors have not only alleviated the financial burden on the students but have also earned him accolades for his dedication to community welfare.
