OBIARUKU/Nigeria: A member of the Delta State Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps has been killed by suspected cult members in Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local government of the State.
Ndokwa Reporters was informed that the suspected attack was a single targeted attack against the group commander, Mr Akudo Kennachor, who was shot dead in a popular drinking joint in the town.
According to our source, the killed Kennachor was trailed and shot at close range when he went to the gents.
The incident it was learnt paralysed business activities in the commercial city of the LGA as stores and business were closed because of arrest by the police on targeted hide out of cult members in the town.
Ndokwa Reporters learnt that some cult members were recently arrested for illegal gathering and involving in cult related activities.
In other to ensure peace in the area, the state Anticult Volunteer Corps met with the leaders of the community, youths and vigilante groups regarding the incident.
The meeting agreed to work together to ensure that activities of cult groups is eliminated in the area.
Meanwhile, the Anticult Volunteer Corps has called for the speedy implementation of the established and constituted State Law (Anti Terrorism and Anti Cultism Law of Delta State).
A call to the Divisional Police Officer of the Obiaruku was not answred, while the state police image maker, Andrew Nwaka promised to get back when he have enough fact on the incident.
