EFFURUN/Nigeria: The corporate image of Ecobank may have suffered severe crisis on the heels of a mountain of complaints being hauled at its operations by customers.
The complaints against the Jakpa Road, Effurun branch of Ecobank reached a feverish pitch recently when the customers bitterly expressed their frustration over what they described as epileptic services of the Automated Machines, ATM, belonging to the bank.
The customers who spoke on condition of anonymity decried the manner the cash dispensing machines are being programmed to function, saying that often times, the ATM would stop dispensing cash at the peak of the day and cause huge pains and disappointment to a large pool of customers who patiently queue in the line under scorching sun and heavy rain waiting to use the machine.
They said: “We are often subjected to unbearable and epileptic bank services at Ecobank ATM even as the position they are situated poses security risk to us. What we are saying is that the machines are situated outside the bank premises-about 6ft far from the busy Jakpa Road. It is a huge risk to our lives which is worsen by the fact that we queue outside in the rain and under the hot sun anytime we come here (Ecobank ATM arena) to do financial transactions.”
They called on the management of the bank to get the ATM machines operate optimally to lessen the suffering customers go through when they go to do their cash transactions on the machines.
“The services of the ATM machines can be made better if the management of Ecobank would overhaul the system completely and give top priorities to customers comfort,” they stated.
Meanwhile, frantic effort made to get the manager of Ecobank, Jakpa Road Effurun respond to the allegations was rebuffed as he said he was not in the position to speak for the bank, saying all enquiries should be channeled to Ecobank’s headquarters in Lagos.
It would be recalled that the position of the Ecobank ATM has raised serious security concern following its nearness to the busy Jakpa Road, Effurun.
