OBIARUKU/Nigeria: In line with the goals of his administration, the Executive Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government, Ogbuefi Chukwudi Dafe have reiterated that he will ensure that lives and property are safe in the area even as he assured communities with boundary disputes that their differences will be resolved pragmatically and peace will reign between and among the communities.
Ogbuefi Chukwudi gave this assurance during his 2-days familiarization tour to Amai, Eziokpor and Umuebu – the communities with boundary disputes.
He said that with the concerted efforts of the communities that permanent peace would be brokered.
At Amai, Umuebu and Eziokpor commended the people for their massive support for the PDP which resulted in what he described as 100% victory during Delta LG polls of January 6, 2018.
Ogbuefi Chukwudi in all three communities stressed that his administration will ensure adequate security of lives and properties in every community across the LGA adding that it is only in a peaceful environment that other developmental endeavours can thrive.
According to him, “I want to thank everyone that voted for us in the last election that brought us into power, we ran for our various positions under the platform of the PDP but now I am the Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government and the councillors are representing their wards not our party,” he said.
“I want to assure you that we are working tirelessly since we resumed office to follow up the Peace Process initiated by His Excellency, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa so as to find a lasting solution to the boundary disputes between our communities.” he stated.
The chairman noted that it is his desire and prayer that Ukwuani remain peaceful and live together as brothers that they are. He also added that his administration will touch every ward in the local government.
“We shall plan, execute and commission projects in this administration and no community will be left out. What the communities’ leaders will do for us is to suggest 3 projects to be done in their community and further same through their councillors to enable us include them in the budget.” he said.
In their separate responses, the leaders of the Kingdoms pledged their co-operation to the administration for a lasting peace process and promised to play their part as will be required by the government.
