ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has congratulated two prominent Urhobo legal practitioners, Jimson Ejovi Okodaso and Onome Okodiya, on their elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), describing the achievement as a source of pride to the Urhobo Nation and Delta State.
In a congratulatory statement signed by Senator Ede Dafinone, the lawmaker said the recognition reflected the lawyers’ professional excellence, integrity and contributions to the administration of justice, while urging them to uphold the responsibilities associated with their new status.
Dafinone said their admission into the Inner Bar represented an important milestone for the two legal practitioners and further demonstrated the capacity of Urhobo professionals to excel in demanding fields of national service.
The senator noted that their achievement had brought honour not only to the Urhobo Nation but also to Delta State and the wider Nigerian legal profession.
He stressed, however, that attaining the SAN rank carried expectations beyond professional recognition, particularly the responsibility to uphold the rule of law, strengthen public confidence in the judiciary and contribute to the fair administration of justice.
According to him, the legal profession remains central to the protection of citizens’ rights and the maintenance of democratic institutions, making integrity and dedication essential qualities for practitioners entrusted with significant professional responsibilities.
Dafinone also described the accomplishments of Okodaso and Okodiya as an encouragement to younger generations of Urhobo professionals, saying their success demonstrated the enduring value of diligence, discipline and integrity in the pursuit of excellence.
On behalf of the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, the lawmaker wished the two Senior Advocates continued wisdom, strength and success in their professional engagements and service to the country.
He expressed confidence that their experience and expertise would continue to contribute to the development of Nigeria’s legal profession and the advancement of justice.
