SAPELE/Nigeria: Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has welcomed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the historic groundbreaking ceremony of the Otovwodo Flyover in Ughelli, describing the project as a defining milestone in the ongoing modernisation of Delta State’s urban centres.
In a statement released to mark the occasion, Dafinone commended the governor for what he described as a visionary infrastructure drive sweeping across Delta State, noting that the administration’s approach to development reflects a commitment to progress that rises above partisan considerations. He said the flyover project symbolises more than concrete and steel, but a deliberate effort to reposition the state for sustainable growth.
The senator noted that the Otovwodo junction has for years remained a major bottleneck, often characterised by severe traffic congestion that hampers movement and economic activity. He expressed confidence that upon completion, the flyover would ensure seamless movement of people and goods, significantly reduce travel time and stimulate commerce in Ughelli and neighbouring communities.
According to him, improved traffic flow and logistics would open Delta Central to fresh investments while reinforcing Ughelli’s status as a strategic hub for trade and commercial activities in the state. He added that such infrastructure interventions are critical to strengthening the local economy and enhancing the quality of life of residents.
Dafinone further described the project as clear evidence that Governor Oborevwori is committed to fulfilling his electoral promises through the MORE Agenda, stressing that the administration has continued to prioritise projects with direct and positive impact on the daily lives of ordinary citizens, particularly in the areas of accessibility and public safety.
While urging residents to protect and support the project, the senator called on Deltans to sustain an atmosphere of peace and cooperation, noting that collective support remains essential to the timely completion of developmental projects across the state. He said unity and cooperation would ensure that the broader vision of a more prosperous Delta becomes a reality.
The lawmaker also appealed to citizens to remain steadfast in their support for the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, stating that coordinated efforts at both state and federal levels are crucial to economic stabilisation, infrastructure renewal and the long-term development of the nation.
