
ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ede Dafinone has congratulated Professor Abugu, SAN, on his emergence as President of the Urhobo Renaissance Society (URS), describing his election as timely and essential for the unity and advancement of the Urhobo nation.
In a congratulatory message issued Monday, Dafinone said Professor Abugu’s emergence comes at a “defining moment in our people’s pursuit of renewal and collective progress.” He praised the new president’s unwavering commitment to Urhobo values and his vast contributions to academic and cultural development, calling him “a most worthy choice to lead this respected body.”
The URS, under its guiding motto “Egba R’Okugbe”, continues to unite Urhobo sons and daughters globally in pursuit of cultural preservation and progressive development.
Senator Dafinone also commended the outgoing President, Professor Hope Eghagha, for what he termed “pioneering leadership and tireless dedication” that lifted the society to its current esteemed status. “His efforts have laid a firm foundation for continued growth and advancement,” he noted.
He extended warm congratulations to the newly sworn-in executive members of the URS, expressing confidence in their ability to inject fresh energy, articulate strategic vision, and sustain a spirit of collaboration in the group’s mission.
