Dafinone Mourns Adiotomre, Says Urhobo Has Lost Voice of Wisdom

ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ede Dafinone has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Mike Adiotomre, a prominent elder statesman and political leader from Ovu-Inland in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, who died at the age of 88.

Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, described the late Adiotomre as a respected political leader whose contributions to public service, peace-building and community development earned him lasting respect across Delta State and the Urhobo nation.

In a condolence message, the senator said Adiotomre’s death represented a significant loss to his immediate family, the people of Ovu and Ethiope East, Delta Central and the wider Urhobo community.

He recalled that the deceased had a distinguished public service career spanning the former Bendel State and Delta State, including his tenure as Secretary of the defunct Bendel State Hospitals Management Board.

According to Dafinone, Adiotomre distinguished himself in the various positions he occupied through diligence, integrity and a strong commitment to the welfare and advancement of his people.

Beyond his public service record, the senator described the deceased as an experienced politician and bridge-builder whose counsel was sought by political leaders across generations.

He said Adiotomre’s commitment to dialogue, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence made him a respected figure beyond partisan political boundaries.

Dafinone noted that the late elder’s experience and moderation were also brought to bear through his membership of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council, where he contributed to efforts aimed at promoting peace and understanding.

The senator said the loss would be felt particularly by those who relied on Adiotomre’s experience and wisdom in navigating political and community issues.

He extended his condolences to the Adiotomre family, the people of Ovu-Inland and Ethiope East Local Government Area, as well as the Urhobo nation, urging them to draw strength from the late elder’s contributions and the legacy he left behind.

Dafinone said Adiotomre’s 88 years of life provided ample reason for consolation, noting that he left behind a record of service, leadership and commitment to the wellbeing of his people.

He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant his family, associates and other mourners the strength to cope with the loss.

The senator said the memory of Adiotomre’s contributions to public life, political development and peaceful coexistence would remain relevant to generations of Urhobo people.
