AGBOR/Nigeria: Wife of the Governor of Delta State and founder, 05 Initiative, Dame Edith Okowa has harped on the need for Nigerians love each other.
Dame Okowa gave the charge during the occasion of 61st birthday celebration with the inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Agbor Ika south Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to the governor, who was represented by the wife of the Chairman of Ika south Local Government Area, Mrs. Theresa Tatabuzogwu, love is what we need at a time like this. It cost little but very powerful. Both the benefactor and beneficiary usually feels blessed.
“My coming here today is born out of love for you. People out there still loves you. We are always praying for you as well” she stated.
She charged them to turn a new leaf and ensure that they conquer whatever brought them to the centre.
“But you must keep you hope alive, because I believe has a reason for allowing you to be here. Be rest assured that God will restore you in due season. But you must repent of any bad behavior or habit” she stated.
In a homily, titled ‘God’s promises for restoration’ a former Permanent Secretary, Post Primary Education Board Delta North Senatorial District, Evan. (Mrs.) Ngozi Bamah stated that everyone needs restoration.
“No one is totally free. We all have one need or the other. There will be some missing or lost hence we need restoration from God” she stated.
While urging the inmates not to give up, the preacher said ” the plan God has for you is that you will not end in confinement. This is not your last bus-stop it is only a bend”.
In his remarks, the Deputy Controller of Corrections in charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre Agbor, Mr. Donatus Ezugwu, appreciated Dame Edith Okowa for always celebrating with inmates.
“We appreciate God for what He is doing in the life of Her Excellency in reaching out to the down trodden and less privilege in the society. Your 05 Initiative has affected lives indeed”
“Especially the 2020 couples’ forum which anchored on home building and your drugs distribution for both preventive and treatment of inmates is highly appreciate” he added.
The ceremony also witnessed sessions of prayers for the celebrant, Delta State and Nigeria, also a talk on Drugs abuse by members of Delta State drugs committee.
