WARRI/Nigeria: An Agbarha Warri Chief, Julius Edafiadjebre, has urged delegates in the various political parties to vote aspirants that will revamp the economy of Delta State, particularly Warri in their primaries.
Edafiadjebre, who is the Unuovwodo (traditional representative of the Ovie of Agbarha Warri) of Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community, Warri, Warri South Local Government Area, gave the advice in a media chat with Reporters in Warri.
He stated that the resuscitation of the moribund Delta State Company (DSC) Ovwian/ Aladja, the sea ports in Delta State and Warri Refinery should be topmost in the manifestos of the aspirants.
Edafiadjebre noted that Delta State, particularly Warri was economically depressed due to the moribund state of the said companies.
“Majority of our God fearing University graduates are into keke riding and other menial jobs while the unscrupulous ones are into crime today due to the moribund state of these companies.
“Youth empowerment programs should start with the resuscitation of these companies.
“Warri and other parts of the state experienced economic boom and the socioe/conomic life was high when these companies were in full operation,” he stated.
He attributed the high crime wave in Warri and environs to the high rate of employment in the area.
Edafiadjebre therefore reasoned that the resuscitation of the said companies would boost the socioeconomic life Warri and its environs.
