ABRAKA/Nigeria: Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Prof. Victor Peretomode has commended staff of the university for the huge turnout during the first fitness exercise programme of the university.
Speaking shortly after the exercise which covered two and a half kilometer radius, Peretomode said the exercise was aimed at enhancing the physical well-being of members of staff and subsequently enhance their ability to perform their duties effectively
“ All over the world, it has has been established that physical exercise help a man to stay healthy as it will make blood flow freely in the arteries. Every part of the body particularly the cardiovascular region will work effectively due to the exercise
“ You have to be alive to work and to work effectively as staff of the university or any organization, you have to mentally and physically fit in order to improve productivity.
“‘Last Friday was the maiden edition of our fitness exercise programme and it will be holding every last Friday of every month. I am elated by huge turnout. We printed and distributed over 100 t-shirts for the exercise and all of it was exhausted.”
Speaking further, the VC called on all staff of the university to take advantage of the fitness programme in order to stay fit and heathy.
Besides the management staff, Deans, Heads of Departments, academic and non academic staff participated actively during the exercise.
Over 100 t-shirts were printed and distributed to participants of the exercise as they walked round the town in company of a van with music.
