Delta 2023: APC Chieftains, Others Endorse Omo-Agege For Governor

OGBOMORO/Nigeria: A large crowd of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday 14, April, 2022, stormed the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE) Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state, as Deputy Senate President,  Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege officially declared his intention to contest the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Speaking at the event, the APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), Elder Victor Giadom, handed a quit notice to the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led PDP government, saying, “Delta State is ripe to be taken over by APC.” Continuing, he urged the APC faithful and Deltans to vote for Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, and all APC candidates in all elective offices in the forthcoming election in Delta State.

In the same vein, Delta State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie debunked the claims that APC is not on ground in Delta State, saying, “This mammoth crowd is a testament to the fact that APC is very much on ground in the State.

“This is just the beginning of what we have in stock for Deltans.

“I want to tell you that when the campaign starts, we have more than enough to feed you,” he stated.

Pledging his support for Sen. Omo-Agege, a chieftain of the APC, Chief Michael Johnny categorically said there was nothing like Ijaw Agenda in the state.

The APC Ijaw leader said, “I want to assure you that there is no agenda flying on the media known as Ijaw Agenda. My people, the Ijaw speaking people of Delta State, and I have unanimously agreed to wait till 2031 to take over power from Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege,”

At the thick of the event, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege officially declared his intention to contest the 2023 governorship elections in Delta State. “I offer myself as a candidate for the office of governor 2023, I am in the race to liberate Deltans from the marginalization being perpetuated by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP,” he told the enthusiastic mammoth crowd of supporters.

While presenting his scorecard before the crowd, Omo-Agege said, “I have represented my people very well at the Senate. I have executed projects in every community across the Delta Central Senatorial District and have fulfilled all the promise I made to the people of Delta State in 2015&2019.”

Mentioning the projects he had executed so far, he said, “I have powered virtually all streets in Delta Central with solar lights, powered communities with additional transformers, renovated primary and secondary schools and provided additional health centres.”

He added, “With my connections, the Defense Space School and a campus of the Nigeria Law School are being established in Delta State, aside the establishment of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE. These achievements became possible with the support of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Sen. Omo-Agege further stated that a Federal University of Agriculture would be established in Aboh, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the state.” Adding, “This was made possible with my efforts and support from Sen. Peter Nwoboshi.”

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his support, saying, “by the grace of God and with the help and support from President Muhammadu Buhari, I emerged as Deputy Senate President, DSP.”

He also commended the Senate President, Sen. Ahmed Lawan for his support and solidarity, including that of his colleagues at the red chamber.

Continuing, he described the Delta Central as his comfort zone where he can win elections comfortably and repeatedly, stressing that he is in the race to liberate Deltans from the shackles of marginalization.

“I want an opportunity to the replicate my achievements in Delta North and Delta South, because, what is good for the goose is good for the gander.”

Agege said, “A time comes in your life when you have to move away from your comfort zone. Delta Central is my comfort zone. If I want to go for reelection, they’ll return me over and over back to the Senate. But today, I have decided to step out of my comfort zone, to replicate my achievements in the whole of Delta State.”

Taking a swipe on governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Sen. Omo-Agege said the government had continued to marginalize the people of Delta State, noting that Ndokwa, and Ijaw nations contribute a chunk of resources to the wealth of the state, still they are marginalized .

Omo-Agege said that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa rode on the back of the people of Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Oshimili North and Oshimili South to become governor, still Governor Okowa’s presence is not felt in those areas, amongst others.

He further stated that majority of Delta State youths are unemployed, saying, “Okowa wants you people to ride Okada, to ride Keke, while people who are close to him drive the best cars, even when pensioners are not paid their retirement benefits.”

Also speaking, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, ably represented by his Deputy, Edward Onoja described Omo-Agege as a warrior, saying, “you need the best warrior to take over Delta State. He eulogized Sen. Agege, saying, “When he entered Senate, he did not sit down as ordinary senator. Since 2015, he became number two in the Senate.”

In the same vein, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku said, “In Jesus Name, we shall hand Sen. Omo-Agege over to God and he shall be next governor of Delta State.”

A founding member of APC in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, said, “Since 1999, Delta State has been suffering. In 2013, we tried to rescue the state. “Now, we have a liberator, Delta is ready for the rescue, he stated.”

Chief Frank Kokori, in his remark, expressed happiness that in his time, there shall be a change of government in Delta State. He said for the past twenty two years, he had been struggling to liberate Delta State, stating that Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege is young, vibrant and ready to liberate Delta State.

Former Delta APC Chairman, Prophet Jones Erue, described PDP is a Herod in Delta State, saying that, “the Herod is dead already.”

Chief Ayirimi Emami urged the crowd to get their PVCs and vote massively for Sending. Omo-Agege.
