Asaba: The Executive Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Religious Matters, Bishop Greatman Nmalagu has attributed the successes recorded in Delta State for the past 25 years to the handiwork of God.
Bishop Nmalagu in Asaba yesterday during an inter-denominational thanksgiving service to mark the silver jubilee celebration of the creation of Delta State, stated that but for the intervention of God, the state would not have succeeded.
“It is a thing of joy that 25 years after the creation of Delta State, against all odds, the people are more united than they were in 1991 when the state was created and this can only be possible through God,” the Bishop said, adding, “it is very unfortunate that Governor Okowa took the mantle of leadership when there is a downturn in the nation’s economy.”
He added, “I can tell you with confidence that the governor mean well for Deltans, he has a clear cut programme of what he wants to do but, this unexpected hardship on our nation where the naira is losing its values and the price of oil is unpredictably getting low with destruction of oil facilities in the creeks of the state, has hampered the level of progress the governor would have made in delivering his prosperity agenda.”
On the future of Delta State, the Executive Assistant said, “the future of our state is bright, the governor has adjusted to the realities of not depending on revenue from oil for the sustenance of the state’s economy and he is putting structures that will make the state great, there are several empowerment programmes going on while investors have already started setting up their companies in the state, we have a great state that some countries will envy and Governor Okowa is harnessing all the potentials of the state to the glory of God.”
“I call on the people to be patient and be supportive of the governor to enable him to be focused in what he is doing for the state,” the Bishop said.
