Delta and Edo Legislators Strengthen Ties During Three-Day Retreat in Asaba

ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has reaffirmed the commitment to a continuous partnership with the leadership and members of the Edo State House of Assembly.

This assurance was made during a reception for Edo State lawmakers, who were in Asaba for a three-day retreat. Represented by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowovwo, Guwor emphasized the shared destiny between the two states, underscoring the legislature’s role in fostering prosperity for their people.

“The bond between Delta and Edo is deeply rooted in our shared destiny,” said Guwor. “We will leverage our legislative powers to ensure the prosperity of our states.”

He guaranteed the Edo lawmakers a warm welcome and secure stay in Delta State, highlighting the state’s renowned hospitality. “Delta State is known for its hospitality,” he noted. “We encourage our Edo colleagues to enjoy the conviviality and serenity of our state during their retreat.”

Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended by their Delta counterparts. “Since our arrival, the reception has been exceptional,” Agbebaku said. “Our shared history and commitment to mutual growth will continue to strengthen our relationship.”

Earlier, Guwor, along with principal officers and members of the Delta Assembly, welcomed the Edo legislators to the retreat venue, stressing the importance of capacity building in legislative duties. As National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, Guwor urged Edo lawmakers to collaborate closely with their Governor to accelerate state development.

“The synergy between the legislative and executive arms is crucial for swift development,” he added.
