Delta APC Will Be Defeated With Okowa’s Achievements Says, Okowa’s Aide, Ossai.

Delta State Governor Aide on Media Mr Ossai Ovie Success has said that the achievements recorded in the past two years of the Okowa led administration are giving the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state nightmare.

Ossai made this disclosure in an interview with journalists yesterday in Asaba.

According to Ossai, it is mischievous on the part of the All Progressives Congress not to acknowledging the giant strides recorded by Governor Okowa, noting that the Governor has judiciously used the resources available to the State in reaching out to the citizens with development strides.

“The Emergence of Sen Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor has brought about high level of transformations in the past two years, under the SMART AGENDA encapsulated in the acronym SMART which means; Strategic Wealth creation projects and provision of jobs for all Deltans; Meaningful peace building platforms aimed at political and social harmony; Agricultural reforms and accelerated industrialization; Relevant Health and Education policies; Transformed environment through urban renewal”

The Okowa administration has provided conducive environment hinged on good governance as the panacea to ensure investors confidence in the state. As at the time Gov Okowa assumed office on May 29, 2015, Delta State had over 60,000 workers on its payroll. However, He was able to meet the obligations to the workers through debt payment re-scheduling, cutting waste, contract reviews, and prudent management. As part of the on-going biometric exercise to weed out ghost workers, the State has been able to prune down the size of the workforce to 50,000, which is still very high compared to that of peer States.

Speaking on road projects, the Aide said Gov Okowa has completed 55 standard road projects over 90 roads embarked upon by his administration. “Gov Okowa has done alot in delighting the people of Delta State in their quest for quality roads which no doubt is one of the dividends of democracy.

As at today,  Gov Okowa has embarked on total of 697.36 km roads and 300km of drains both at the Urban and rural areas,  Of this figure, 276.63 km roads are in the rural areas. The completion of these roads is coming due to the prudent management of resources, the road projects include critical inter and intra-city road projects, including concrete-lined drains.”

Ossai who also talked On Youths Empowerment, Said The Okowa youth empowerment Programme has yielded some fruitful result as a result of Gov Okowa determination of reducing the rate of unemployment in Delta State.

“Since August 2015, when Gov Okowa launched the Job and Wealth Creation Scheme with the following programmes viz; Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP), Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP), and Production and Processing Support Programme (PPSP), over 40,000 direct and indirect jobs has been created both in the private sector in the state.”.

“Talking about Agriculture in the State, the state government has distributed tractors to 64 Cooperative Societies. Another set of 106 Cooperative Societies got Mellon Shellers while 18 other Cooperative Societies received Outboard Engines and Fishing Gears support packages.

The state government also distributed improved variety of cassava cuttings, fertilizer, and cash to 475 cassava farmers; 100 fishery farmers were given fingerlings, feeds and cash; 100 poultry farmers were supported with 200-day-old chicks each, feeds and cash; 50 poultry layer farmers got 200 layers each, feeds and cash; 50 piggery farmers received 10 growers, feeds and cash; while 40 tomatoes farmers were supported with seedlings, agrochemicals and cash ” he said.

Coming to Education in the state, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa two weeks after assuming office started the complete rehabilitation and reconstruction of three ‘dead’ technical colleges in the state located at Ofagbe in Delta South, Sapele in Delta Central and Agbor in Delta North. Today the Ofagbe Technical College and Sapele Technical College has been commissioned, the Agbor is ready for commissioning. The state has also completed some renovations and construction of schools across the state through the SUBEB/UBEC interventions.

On Relevant Health, the State Government has renovated some hospitals across the state with Universal Health Insurance Policy for all Deltans he said while calling on Investors to invest in Delta State. The Patani Hospital, the newly constructed Abavo General Hospital and the about to be commissioned Central Hospital Asaba, are testimonies of Okowa’s intervention in the health sector.

“In their quest for power, the All Progressives Congress in Delta State have failed in their duty as an opposition party,the truth be told, the All Progressives Congress in Delta State can never be a threat to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, because in the past two years, he has silenced the mouth of the opposition parties in the state with unprecedented achievements” he said
