ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, has emphasized the significance of the annual Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Conference as a crucial gathering for legal professionals to review their achievements, address challenges, and stay updated on emerging issues within the legal profession.
Ohwovoriole made these remarks during a special event organized by the Delta State Ministry of Justice for lawyers of Delta State origin who attended the 2024 NBA Conference held at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos. The Attorney-General, who was represented by the Director of Law Review, Research, and Publications, Mr. Ijeoma Adigwe, highlighted the importance of the conference’s theme, “Pressing Forward,” in light of the numerous challenges facing the country, including insecurity, economic instability, and political issues.
He noted that while these challenges are significant, they are not unique to Nigeria but are part of a broader global context. Ohwovoriole stressed the importance of resilience and the need for Nigerians to continue moving forward despite these obstacles.
The Attorney-General also underscored the purpose of the gathering, which was to bring together lawyers from Delta State to foster camaraderie and strengthen professional ties. He reiterated that the substantial participation of Delta State lawyers at the conference was a testament to his commitment to providing effective leadership within the Ministry of Justice.
In his remarks, Ohwovoriole praised the newly elected NBA President, describing him as a focused and articulate leader who is poised to steer the Nigerian Bar Association to greater heights. He expressed confidence that under the new leadership, the NBA would continue to play a pivotal role in addressing the legal challenges facing the nation and advancing the rule of law.
